GLOBAL DESIGN GIANTS ARE COMING TO CASABLANCA

Flexform, Roche Bobois, Moroso, Kettal and Molteni&C will join Moroccan creative talent for a new citywide celebration of furniture, architecture and contemporary design.

Casablanca is preparing to place Moroccan design on a bigger international stage.

Some of the world’s best-known furniture and interior-design houses will participate in the inaugural Morocco Design, taking place across the city from October 5 to 7, 2026.

Flexform, Roche Bobois, Moroso, Kettal and Molteni&C are among the international names announced for the programme.

They will be joined by Moroccan designers, architects and creative studios for three days of exhibitions, installations and industry gatherings.

But Morocco Design will not be contained inside a conventional exhibition centre.

Showrooms, galleries, private ateliers, boutique hotels and architectural spaces will become part of a citywide design route.

For three days, Casablanca will not merely host the event. The city will become part of the exhibition.

MOROCCO DESIGN WILL TAKE OVER THE CITY

Traditional design fairs usually bring brands together beneath one roof.

Morocco Design is taking a different approach by spreading its programme across Casablanca.

The format will allow visitors to experience furniture, architecture and contemporary creativity within the spaces where design is displayed, produced and used.

That approach suits Casablanca.

The city contains layers of architectural history, from Art Deco façades and modernist buildings to contemporary hotels, homes, offices and retail spaces.

Its creative identity is not concentrated in one neighbourhood. It can be found in studios, workshops, galleries and interiors throughout the city.

By using Casablanca as its setting, Morocco Design can introduce international visitors to a side of the city that extends beyond its established reputation as Morocco’s economic capital.

It is a city of business, but also one of ideas, architecture and constant reinvention.

GLOBAL BRANDS WILL MEET MOROCCAN TALENT

The international line-up gives the first edition immediate visibility.

Flexform is known for refined Italian furniture. Roche Bobois has built a worldwide presence through contemporary interiors and designer collaborations. Moroso, Kettal and Molteni&C bring their own identities across furniture, outdoor living and interior design.

Their announced participation does not mean that every company is opening a new Moroccan store. They are taking part in Morocco Design through the event’s wider programme.

The Moroccan line-up is just as important.

Announced participants include Hamza Khadiri, Hicham Lahlou, Samir Mazer, Ali Lahlou, Salima Filali, Studio Sana Benzaitar, Inspiration Design BY, Myroc Studio, Zineb Tazi, Verneo Studio, Sophia Kacimi and Othmane Bengebara.

Placing these creators alongside established international houses changes the conversation.

Moroccan talent is not being presented merely as a source of traditional decoration. It is being positioned within a contemporary design ecosystem covering furniture, interiors, architecture, materials and collectible objects.

For local creators, the event could provide greater exposure to international collectors, developers, specialist media and potential commercial partners.

FLEXFORM HAS ALREADY OPENED A CASABLANCA FLAGSHIP

One participating brand has already made a permanent commitment to the city.

Flexform has opened a 320-square-metre flagship showroom in Casablanca in collaboration with JK-Contracting.

Located in the CIL district, the space presents some of the Italian company’s best-known furniture, including its Groundpiece and Soft Dream sofas and its Guscio and Sveva armchairs.

The showroom offers useful context for the wider event.

International design businesses are not viewing Casablanca only as a temporary exhibition destination. Some are establishing permanent physical spaces through Moroccan partners.

A local showroom allows architects, interior designers, developers and customers to see and experience products without relying entirely on overseas sourcing.

It also reflects growing demand generated by new homes, hotels, restaurants, offices and mixed-use projects across Morocco.

Casablanca sits naturally at the centre of this market because it combines purchasing power, property development, creative professionals and international connections.

MOROCCAN CRAFTSMANSHIP ENTERS A NEW CONVERSATION

Moroccan craftsmanship and contemporary design entering a new international conversation in Casablanca

Moroccan craftsmanship has influenced global interiors for decades.

Zellige, rugs, carved wood, metalwork, leather, textiles and natural materials appear in hotels, restaurants and homes far beyond Morocco.

But global appreciation for a Moroccan visual style does not always create equal visibility for the designers, craftspeople and businesses behind it.

Morocco Design can help move the conversation forward.

Its greatest value will not come from displaying international furniture inside attractive Casablanca venues. It will come from connecting Moroccan creativity with wider professional and commercial networks.

That could eventually lead to commissions, collaborations, retail partnerships and participation in exhibitions abroad.

It can also demonstrate that Morocco’s design identity is not frozen in the past.

A new generation is combining inherited skills and materials with contemporary forms, changing lifestyles and international markets.

The result does not have to imitate Milan, Paris or Dubai. Morocco has its own materials, visual language, craftsmanship and creative perspective.

CAN CASABLANCA BECOME A DESIGN DESTINATION?

The world’s most influential design weeks have become much more than trade fairs.

They bring together brands, architects, designers, buyers, journalists and visitors while turning their host cities into creative destinations.

Casablanca is not yet competing with those established design capitals at the same scale. One inaugural event cannot establish that status on its own.

But the city has many of the ingredients required to build a distinctive platform.

It has architectural heritage, creative talent, international transport links, a growing hospitality sector and a large commercial market.

Most importantly, it can offer something different.

Casablanca stands at the meeting point of Moroccan, African, Mediterranean and international influences. That combination gives the city an identity that another destination cannot easily reproduce.

The real test will come after the first edition.

Can Morocco Design become a recurring event? Can it generate lasting partnerships? Can it help Moroccan creators reach buyers and opportunities beyond the three-day programme?

Those outcomes will determine whether this is simply an attractive cultural event or the beginning of a more influential design platform.

A DIFFERENT SIDE OF CASABLANCA

International audiences usually encounter Casablanca as Morocco’s commercial centre.

Morocco Design adds another layer to that identity.

It presents the city as a place where business and creativity can meet, and where global brands can share a platform with Moroccan studios and designers.

Villa Sahrai has been announced as the event’s official hospitality partner and is expected to receive international press and industry guests during the programme.

The citywide format could also direct attention towards independent galleries, ateliers, showrooms, hotels and other creative spaces.

Not every activity will necessarily be open to the general public. Some gatherings may require registration or an invitation.

Anyone planning to attend should therefore check the final programme, participating addresses, opening times and access conditions through the event’s official channels before travelling.

CASABLANCA IS READY TO SHOW WHAT IT CAN CREATE

The presence of major international houses will attract attention.

What Morocco does with that attention matters more.

Morocco Design offers Casablanca an opportunity to show that it can be more than a market for international products. It can also be a meeting point where global brands discover Moroccan ideas, studios and craftsmanship.

That is the real promise of the first edition.

The strongest outcome would not be three busy days or a collection of beautiful photographs. It would be new relationships that continue after the exhibitions close.

Casablanca already knows how to bring business together.

In October, it will have an opportunity to show the world how Morocco brings creativity, craftsmanship and contemporary design together too.

Global design giants are coming to Casablanca.

The most important story will be what they discover when they arrive.
